My Introductory Post
First things first, I need to answer some important questions:
Who am I? And why am I doing all this (blogging, writing, etc.)? What’s the purpose?
Well, to start off, my name is Samuel James. I’m an aspiring teen writer and blogger, who also loves sports, spending time with friends and family, running, videography, Lifeguarding, and watching epic movies. But beyond all that fluff, I’m a son of the King, redeemed in His blood, and it’s my goal to glorify Him in everything I do.
Where does writing fit in?
From a young age, I’ve always loved anything related to writing. Whether I was doing it for a Language Arts assignment in school, just for fun, or with the intent of the world seeing it one day, I loved writing.
As I progressed in my journey, began brainstorming ideas for books, and joined writing programs, I slowly came to realize that this shouldn’t all be about me. Sure, I could make the goal of my writing be to get published, become famous, collect accolades, and all of that. Except, as a follower of Christ, that isn’t my goal.
Which is why, as I went through the process of launching this blog, I had to talk to God a lot about my motivation. Was I doing this because I wanted to get my words out there, or because I wanted to get His words out there?
My two choices.
I could do this for my own glory – I definitely could. But in the end, how will that help me? “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” (Mark 8:36, NIV).
So instead, I’ve been praying for a servant heart. I’m but a steward of the gifts and abilities He’s given me, and I want to use them for His glory.
Please hold me accountable to this: no matter what happens in my journey, whether it leads to incredible places or not, I want to keep God first. I am not the one receiving recognition. He is. Everything I do, like a mirror, needs to reflect back to Him. Christ doesn’t work in me – He works through me.
Thank you so much for checking out my blog.
I deeply appreciate that you read my introduction post, and I hope the words God has led me to write can bless you and those around you in your own journey. If you know anyone who you think would be impacted by my posts, please don’t hesitate to invite them to check it out.
All the best!
