The Sunshine Blogger Award

The Sunshine Blogger Award

Something special happened.

Today I have a bonus post for you guys (:

First off, I’d like to say a very special thank you to Dee at Dee’s Designs for nominating me for this award. I’m honoured that you chose this blog.

Context.

The Sunshine Blogger Award is an award that is passed around among bloggers. It’s a way to recognize other writers who spread creative content, joy, and encouragement through their writing. Last week I was nominated by Dee for this award.

There are a few procedures / rules to follow in order to accept said award. The first is that I need to display the official logo on my blog. Without further ado…

(You’ll now be able to find this award on my Extras page too.)

I’m also asked to thank the person who nominated me (thank you again Dee). As part of being nominated, the nominator (Dee) asked me 11 questions, which I’ve answered below.

My Answers.

1. If you could pick anywhere in the world to go and the trip cost you nothing, where would you go?

I’d love to go to New Zealand and visit “Middle-Earth”. Plus it’s an incredibly beautiful country.

2. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?

I think I tried grass once. That was fun.

3. What book have you read and reread the most?

I have to say the Bible. I read it every day.

4. What is your favourite quote and why?

The legendary Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” I like that quote because it reminds me of the importance of our mentality. We can only accomplish something if we believe we can. If we think we’re going to fail, we will. So have a winner’s mindset, because we’re competing for the ultimate prize – eternity with Jesus.

5. If you could make one change to the world, what would it be?

I’d have Jesus come back, honestly.

6. What is the hardest book you’ve ever read?

I remember finding the writing style of Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde quite challenging. In terms of topic, the Bible handles some really difficult issues.

7. What is your favourite Bible verse and what does it mean to you?

Romans 8:38-39 has always held a special place in my heart. Back in Elementary School, I memorized the passage and then recited it in front of my church…in four different services. It says, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow, indeed not even the powers of hell can separate us from the love of God that has been revealed to us through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

It’s an amazing reminder that no mistake we make can ever change how much God loves us.

8. What is the most fascinating book you have ever read?

I recently read Alex and Brett Harris’s book Do Hard Things. It’s a super cool and interesting book about how teenagers can overcome low standards and do amazing things for God’s glory.

9. What is one of your favourite things to do when you have free time?

I enjoy reading, running, photography, and making videos with my friends and cousins (:

10. What is one circumstance when you felt God’s hand leading you?

Starting this blog was 100% a God thing. I went into it with zero experience in web and graphic design. It was all on God to make this happen. And I guess things have turned out pretty well.

11. If you died today what is one thing you would regret not doing the most?

I would regret not spending another day trying my best to glorify God.

My Nominations.

Now that I’ve answered my 11 questions, I’d like to nominate other bloggers and ask them 11 questions. I have two “long-time” bloggers / blogs I’d like to mention.

  • Anna Kate, my former Accountability Group co-leader, and her blog AnnaKate Writes.
  • Lori Scharf, one of the few writers I’ve met both online and in person, and her site Warrior Co.

Here’s what you guys have to do to receive the award:

  1. Answer the following 11 questions in a post on your blog.
  2. Display the award logo on your blog.
  3. Link back to this blog.
  4. Draft 11 questions for up to 11 bloggers you want to nominate, and let them know by commenting on their blog.

My Questions.

  • Who is one of your favourite authors, and why?
  • If you could only read one genre, which would you read?
  • What is your favourite film, and why?
  • What is one day you wish you could relive?
  • Besides Language Arts, what is/was your favourite school subject?
  • What food could you not survive without?
  • If you were a colour, what colour would you be?
  • What would you classify as your greatest achievement to date?
  • If you could meet one Bible character, who would you meet, and what would you discuss?
  • How would you summarize the mission of your blog?
  • What inspires you in life?

Thank you again for reading this first-of-its-kind post! I’m excited and blessed to be the recipient of this award, and I can’t wait to continue spreading Jesus’ message even further. I’ll see you on Friday for the next Fallacy post.

Until then, God bless!

Samuel James
